Crusoe reportedly raises $3B at a $30B valuation

Crusoe, a developer of data centers for computing workloads, has reportedly completed a $3 billion financing that values the company at $30 billion. Bloomberg reported the transaction after Crusoe secured a major new customer commitment, placing fresh attention on the infrastructure business behind expanding demand for artificial-intelligence computing. The reported raise would rank as a significant capital event for a company focused on supplying the systems needed to support large-scale computing.

The valuation and fundraise would give Crusoe a larger financial base as it pursues projects that require substantial investment in hardware and facilities. The company operates in the infrastructure layer of the AI market rather than the consumer-facing software products that often dominate coverage. Its business is tied to the data-center and cloud capacity customers need for GPU-intensive workloads and related AI operations.

A central part of the recent development is Crusoe’s agreement with Jane Street. Bloomberg said the quantitative trading firm entered into a five-year cloud deal worth $13 billion. Crusoe is set to provide graphics processing units and AI infrastructure under the arrangement, linking a meaningful share of its expected activity to a long-term customer relationship with a major trading firm.

That agreement helps explain why the reported financing has attracted attention. A contract stretching over several years can give an infrastructure supplier more visibility into expected demand, while also illustrating the scale of capital required to meet it. Delivering capacity for GPU-heavy services can involve major spending before all related revenue is recognized, making outside investment important as providers seek to build and expand.

Atreides Management and Valor Equity Partners are reportedly co-leading the round. Mubadala Capital is also participating, according to Bloomberg. Mubadala Capital is the asset-management subsidiary of Mubadala, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund. Its involvement adds an investor linked to one of the region’s major state-backed investment organizations to the group backing Crusoe’s reported financing.

The presence of several sizable investors suggests that Crusoe is being assessed not only through the lens of AI demand, but also as a long-term infrastructure company. The reported capital could help finance facilities, equipment and service capacity for large customers. Still, a new funding round does not eliminate the operational challenge of converting customer commitments into functioning systems delivered at the required scale.

Crusoe’s existing customers include Meta, Microsoft and OpenAI, the report said. Those names place the company within the technology supply chain serving organizations with significant computing needs. The Jane Street arrangement would broaden that customer mix to include quantitative trading, showing that demand for GPUs and AI infrastructure can come from sectors beyond consumer technology and traditional AI product development.

The reported numbers also warrant caution. Bloomberg’s account identifies the funding amount, valuation, lead investors and Jane Street agreement, but the available report does not provide detailed financing terms, a closing timeline or a full plan for using the proceeds. A private-company valuation reflects the conditions negotiated in a particular investment and does not independently establish future operating results.

Attention will now turn to execution. Crusoe will need to supply the GPUs and AI infrastructure covered by the five-year Jane Street contract while continuing to meet the needs of its other customers. Further details on how the capital is deployed, whether additional projects are announced and how quickly new capacity comes online may offer a clearer indication of how the company intends to support the $30 billion valuation reported for the round.
